PROJECT TEAM LEAD

 

Job Summary 

A Project Team Lead performs technical work while responsible for multiple projects and/or programs. This requires collaborating, mentoring, and coordinating efforts of other engineers while interacting with clients, contractors, and suppliers to assure successful projects.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Executing project scope, schedule, budget, and quality assurance.

  • Developing proposals, defining scope of work, and project cost estimates.

  • Performing technical work as part of the team.

  • Collaboration and coordinating the efforts of internal and external resources.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with multiple client departments and disciplines, including procurement, engineering, communications, project management, and construction.

  • Project types may include:

  • High voltage substation physical and electrical design (conceptual to detailed).

  • Substation protection, controls, and communication design and settings.

  • Power system studies (short-circuit, load flow, coordination, arc flash, distributed generation interconnection, capital planning studies, power quality, transient stability, grounding etc.).

  • Travel as required to support onsite construction observation, data acquisition, and problem resolution.

  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned and volunteers to assist others.

  • Proactively and independently develops new skills and refines existing skills.

  • Approaches and completes tasks efficiently.

  • Ability to supervise, direct, and perform high level QA/QC on other Engineers work product

 

Job Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Engineering Degree B.S in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • PE or EIT with the ability to obtain PE within one year of hire.

  • 3-10 years experience within utility or high voltage power transmission/distribution projects.

 

Required Skills

  • Capable of successfully coordinating with multiple disciplines for successful project/program execution.

  • Energetic self-starter who is accountable, assertive, self-directed, and proactive.

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while responsible for multiple projects operating in parallel.

  • Ability to anticipate issues and develop plans in order to mitigate risk.

  • Ability to recognize, acknowledge, and correct potential mistakes whether by self or others.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, to convey ideas and information and actively collaborate with coworkers and clients.

 

Software (examples)

  • Experience using project management and scheduling software.

  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

  • Power Systems modelling and analysis software such as ASPEN, ETAP, SKM, and Milsoft.

  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

 

Job Summary 

An Electrical Engineer’s responsibilities include providing engineering and design capabilities for Electrical Power Substations of varied voltage classes ranging from 4,160V to 345kV. Responsibilities include the complete electrical design for utility and heavy industrial substation projects.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • High voltage substation physical and electrical design (conceptual to detailed).

  • Power systems studies (short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, distributed generation interconnection, capital planning studies, power quality, transient stability, etc.)

  • High voltage/medium voltage power systems protection, including modeling of systems, creation of relay settings, protection philosophies, and coordination.

  • Produce project drawings and deliverables per project schedules and objectives including coordination with other disciplines, reviewing design drawings for completeness, accuracy and compliance with codes and design data.

  • Review vendor drawings for completeness and consistency with design.

  • Develop specifications as well as bid and construction documents.

  • Assist with bid evaluation.

  • Stamping engineered drawings.

  • Ability to supervise, direct and perform QA/QC on other Engineers work product.

  • Travel as required to support onsite construction, safety and quality inspection, structural observation, data acquisition and problem resolution.

  • Performs other duties as requested/assigned and volunteers to assist others.

  • Proactively and independently develops new skills and refines existing skills.

  • Approaches and completes tasks efficiently

  • Administratively reports to Project Managers and Project Engineers
